Description

New double yellow line markings have been added to Mission St behind the high school. Unfortunately, in certain locations cars that are parked on the side of the road do not allow sufficient clearance between the yellow lines and the parked car. Without the double yellow, it was clear that one car needed to pull over to allow a car in the opposite direction to pass. With the new double yellow lines, this has made this hazardous as driver on the opposite side assume there must be enough room. I would suggest one of 2 possible remedies: 1) Make white markings along the edges of the road, such that only cars that are small enough to park inside the lines may park safely (and/or place no parking signs in certain locations that cannot fit a parked car and two-way traffic.) Or 2) Remove the double yellow lines and treat this as a road that accommodates 2 way traffic only by having one car pull to the side in select locations. Note that this is only a problem on Mission from the intersection with Belle Ave. to the intersection with Sea View (ie - the back of the high school)
